The words of DBHS Mock Trial Coach LATITIA THOMAS --- "Before our Prom, four DBHS Mock Trial team members competed in the National Championship for Moot Court this past weekend. There were 5 locations for this year’s Moot Court competitions. We had students who competed in person at Univ of Georgia in February and students who competed virtually through UCSD in March. Teams (students compete in two-person teams) who placed in top 8 at any of the 5 university sponsored competitions, qualified for the National Championship which took place virtually this weekend. Seniors Mia Artale and Chloe Zhuo came in second place at Univ of Georgia and freshman Arvind Anwar with sophomore partner Aditi Chawla came in top 8 at UCSD so both teams competed this weekend. It was INTENSE! The top 40 teams in one competition. Because it was virtual, the scorers came from all over the United States. All teams competed in four rounds that were held Saturday and Sunday morning. Then the top 8 continued to compete Sunday. Both teams were AMAZING! No notes, flawless presentations, unable to be stumped or stymied throughout the intimidating lines of questioning. Mia Artale and Chloe Zhuo made it to the Top 8 round. It was the most grueling, intense twenty minutes of questioning I have ever heard but that didn’t phase Mia or Chloe at all. They did not advance to the top 4 but it was a close decision!
