DBHS senior Eunice Chung has been awarded a Regional Award of Honorable Mention in the 2016 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards competition, presented by the Alliance of Young Artists and Writers. This is a remarkable accomplishment for Eunice because there were nearly 320,000 works submitted nationwide.<br><br>Here's the statement Eunice submitted:<br><br>"Music is a singular mode of expression: a conceptual, universal language that speaks to the soul, bringing people from all walks of life together. This awe-inspiring craft has played an integral role in my life, alleviating my pain in times of anguish and lifting my spirits in times of ecstasy. From the moment I was born, music has been intertwined in every aspect of my being, and I find solace in its intricate labyrinth of notes and beats. As I embark on my creative journey, I have pursued the theme of musical expression, breathing visual life into this complex art form. Through the portfolio, I intend to pay tribute to this irreplaceable gift, documenting my progress as I not only mature artistically but develop a profound connection with the guiding force that has shaped me into who I am today."
