Dear Parents,

It is time for the Freshman Career Unit. On November 21^st or 22^nd, your student is working with GLCs in the computer lab during their English class.  Students will create an account on www.californiacolleges.edu. This website is not only helpful to keep track of their college entrance requirements but also plays a role in helping your child explore many career options. They will be taking an “interest inventory” that helps match their interests and skills to particular careers and majors. This is such a useful tool for students who don’t have any idea what they want to do in the future. On Wednesday, November 30^th, we will be presenting additional career, college, and graduation related information to your child. They will be expected to complete a 4 year educational plan based on the information we provide to them in the meeting. They have two days to complete their educational plans and return it to their English class.

Please take some time to discuss your child’s results from the California Colleges website. It is a great website and will be a valuable tool to use throughout their four years at DBHS. On the 30^th, your child will bring home a folder of valuable information. We would appreciate you also taking the time to review it and helping them with their four year plan. If your child needs assistance with the plan, he/she will be instructed to visit their GLC at brunch, lunch, or after school.
