On Thursday, March 17, English teachers will administer the essay portion of the Early Assessment Program (EAP) to all 11th grade students. The EAP is a way of determining your student’s readiness for college-level work in English and math. The results of this assessment will give you an early indication of what needs to be done before or during senior year in order to meet the requirements for work at the California State University or a California Community College.

Please take the time to discuss this opportunity and encourage your son or daughter to do his/her very best on the EAP Exams next week and in April. All three parts must be completed to qualify for the exemptions. By doing so, your child can save you money and save him or herself the time spent in remediation courses. The results of the EAP will appear on the STAR report that is mailed to you every August.
· A specially-designed English IV course, Expository Reading and Writing, has been developed for those students who do not achieve an assessment of “College Readiness” on their EAP English test. If this is the case for your child, please inquire with his or her GLC when you register.
