Auditions for Hamlet! DBHS Theatre Arts is presenting The Tragedie of Hamlet Prince of Denmark by
William Shakespeare for its Fall Play 2017. Supernatural phenomena, murder, mental illness,
physical combat, and teenage angst— Hamlet is Shakespeare’s greatest tragedy and one of his best
well known and most often quoted works. We are looking for 25 energetic students for a creative and
high energy production of this play.
Roles are open to all and we will most likely be cross-gender casting for several roles. Background in movement, dance, & acting are a plus but not required. For auditions please prepare a 1-2 minute Shakespearian monologue. Students with a movement/dance background can do a 30 second to one minute movement piece that reflects your understanding of the mood/story of the show in addition to the monologue. You will also be asked to read from the script.
Email Ms. Casagran at [email protected] to make an audition appointment and receive a monologue
if you don’t have your own. Auditions will be held on April 24 and 25 in Room 907 from 2 p.m. - 5:30pm. (Casagran)
