COMMENCEMENT – May 25th

Commencement exercises will begin promptly at 7:00 PM. Admission is by ticket only. Seniors will be asked to arrive no later than 5:30 PM. Students are to report to the gym and subject to search and should be dressed in semi-formal attire. The graduation tassel is worn draped over the left front quarter of the cap. Only 2017 Graduates will be allowed in the Gym.

REPORT TO THE GYM- 5:30pm

Graduates should bring: Cap/Gown, Keys, I.D.

Graduates Should NOT bring: Cell Phone, Cameras, Electronic Devices, Purse, Handbag, Backpack.

DO NOT DECORATE CAP/GOWN

LADIES – DO NOT WEAR HIGH HEALED SHOES!!!!

Distribution of Diplomas – May 25th

Diplomas may be picked up on the north/west side of the football field at the end of the commencement exercises.

Extra Graduation Tickets

Extra graduation tickets are being sold now, at USB/Student Store. They are $7.00 each. They can also be purchased at the gate at the commencement exercises.

What time may I enter the stadium for Commencement? Both the home side and guest side of Holmes Memorial Stadium will be open for seating at 5:30 PM with admission by ticket only.

Where can parents and family meet their graduates after the commencement ceremony? Family and friends may meet with their graduates on the field following the ceremony. However, no guest will be permitted on the field for five minutes after the conclusion of the ceremony thus allowing the graduates an opportunity to acknowledge and congratulate each other. NO GRADUATES OR GUESTS ARE TO WEAR HIGH HEELS AS THEY WILL PUNCTURE THE TRACK AND FIELD.

May an individual videotape Commencement? Yes, but in the interest of others, please do not block the view of those around you. V & S Video is the only company that will be allowed on the field during the ceremony. They will get a close-up of each senior as they receive their diploma. These DVD’s are on sale now, before and after school in the student store. It will include the entire graduation ceremony and highlights from the Senior Year. The DVD’s are $30.00 and will be shipped directly to your home. Please allow about 10 weeks after graduation.

What are students to wear under their gowns at Commencement? Attire for girls will include dresses or skirts and blouses and appropriate dress shoes. Dress for boys will include collared shirts, dress slacks and appropriate footwear (no sandals). . NO GRADUATES OR GUESTS ARE TO WEAR HIGH HEELS AS THEY WILL PUNCTURE THE TRACK AND FIELD.

Can I still purchase graduation announcements? Yes, there is a limited supply of extra announcements available for purchase. They are on sale now, at USB office in packs of 10 for $20.00 each. They will be sold on a first come first serve basis until we sell out.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many tickets can my family receive? Three tickets will be given to each senior at the second graduation rehearsal. Additional tickets may be purchased at USB office for $7.00 each. Tickets will also be sold at the gate at graduation.

How long will the graduation last? Commencement ceremonies will start at 7:00 PM. and will conclude by approximately 8:30 PM.

Are seats reserved at Commencement? No. Individuals will be seated on a first come first serve basis. Please be sensitive regarding the saving of seats.

May we take pictures at Commencement? You are invited to take any general pictures of the ceremony from your seat. Please do not attempt to enter the field at anytime for the taking of pictures. We will have a photographer on site taking pictures of your grad.

Where can all of the spectators park for the Commencement? We encourage guests not to park in the surrounding neighborhood because this can cause a lot of congestion. Additional parking has been made available at South Pointe Middle School. Busses will take spectators to the stadium ramp on Brea Canyon from South Pointe Middle School. Signs will be posted indicating where the busses will pick-up and drop off. Bus pick-ups will begin at 5:30 PM and continue until 7:30 PM. Return trips to South Pointe Middle School will begin at the end of the ceremony departing from two locations on Brea Canyon; North of the Stadium driveway and South of the Gym driveway. The shuttle busses will continue to run until 9:00 PM.

Will handicapped parking and seating be available? Yes, there will be handicapped parking on the outside basketball courts. You will be assisted from this point to the appropriate seating.
