Stay tuned for weekly updates on our production of “Disney’s Frozen: The Broadway Musical”. Here is a recap of Week #6!
Uploaded Mar 04, 2023Congratulations to Brahma senior Talyah Ejan for winning the Choreography Award at the WCE Regional. Saturday, February 18, 2023, our DB Dance Co competed at the WCE Regional at Glendale High School. This event was their biggest regional of the season and, as you can imagine, the competition was fierce. Our Dance Company walked away with placements in every division (many of them 1st place) and with 3rd place overall Grand Champions.
We would like to highlight senior Talyah Ejan's accomplishment in winning the Choreography Award. The competition only gave out 2 Choreography Awards for 100+ routines (many choreographed by professional dance choreographers) and our "Student Choreography" piece by senior Talyah Ejan was one of those 2 selected! Amazingly enough, this was not Talyah's first time winning this award as she also choreographed this same piece last year! We are so proud of Talyah's creativity and her ability to articulate her vision to her peers. #raisingthebar #brahmabuilt

Robotics Team Final Regional Match
Featured
After a long weekend of broken parts and design flaws to overcome, Team Sprocket brought a prestigious “Blue Banner” home to DBHS.
Team Sprocket is the 2018 FRC Orange County Regional Winner!!!
This email could go on for a mile with the wonderful efforts that these students engaged in over the course of three days, so let me give you the highlights:
- On Friday, Team Sprocket hosts 36 Middle school students and 3 teachers from Chaparral, South Pointe & Suzanne Middle schools to tour the competition pits and enjoy FRC matches, in an effort to inspire the next generation of engineers and promote the expansion of FIRST Robotics in WVUSD.
- After 2 days of game play, Team Sprocket finishes qualification matches with a record of 7-3-0, ranked 12th out of 52 teams.
- TS is selected as the 1st pick for the 3rd Ranked Alliance; Alliance members = “Assembly Required” (Santa Margarita) & “The Midnight Mechanics” (La Jolla)
Playoffs (2 out of 3 = winner)
- Quarter-Finals - TS defeats the 6th ranked alliance (2-0)
- Semi-Finals – TS defeats the 2nd ranked alliance (2-1)
- Finals – TS defeats the 1st ranked alliance (2-0) ; This accomplishment is even more impressive considering that the #1 Alliance consisted of the #1 & #2 overall ranked teams. #1 (Friarbots) were (10-0-0) and #2 (Code Orange) were (9-1-0) entering playoffs. They were undefeated in Quarters and Semis (combined record of 23-1-0)… and then they met up with our Alliance. Team Sprocket and their alliance members stunned the arena by taking down “Goliath” in 2 straight matches with an unconventional defensive strategy… securing the title of FRC Orange County Regional Winners.
The team will be heading off to Houston for the World Championships, April 18th-21st, for the 2nd year in a row… but this time as a regional champion!!!

Tuesday, November 28, our Diamond Bar High School Wellness Center hosted its first TEDx event. TEDx events are produced independently of TED conferences, each event curates speakers on their own, but based on TED's format and rules. Sixty-five DBHS students auditioned before a panel of staff members. Nineteen were chosen as speakers who shared their ideas with English classes in our theater.

Wednesday, November 28, The Wellness Center’s TED-inspired talks returned to the Diamond Bar High School stage after last year’s teacher attendees were in total agreement that the event should continue.
Approximately 80 students auditioned and 18 were selected to express their personal message on mental wellness. In the upcoming days, each of the talks presented that day will be posted on Facebook, YouTube and dbhs.org.
