DBHS Principal Denis Paul Announces His Retirement

The following message was sent to the Diamond Bar High School Staff Thursday, May 13:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Fellow Brahmas,

On June 3rd, we will celebrate our 27th graduating class and the 28th school year of Diamond Bar High School.  I have been fortunate to be a Brahma for 29 years, starting as member of the ad hoc planning committee during the 1981-82 school year.  For the past 12 years I have had the honor of being your principal, the third, the oldest, and the longest serving in our school’s history.

It is with a mixture of joy and sadness that I announce that I will be retiring from the district on June 17, 2010, after 38 years as an educator.  The joy I feel is in leaving a school that is “on top.”  This is evident in our WASC report, test scores, community support and the prevailing culture of continuous improvement among our staff.  The sadness I feel will be in missing the day to day camaraderie and friendship with colleagues who have become life long friends.  I am especially grateful for the well wishes, good thoughts and prayers for my recent surgery.  I am happy to report that I am feeling much better than I have in many years and look forward to being able to enjoy new adventures and challenges that the next phase of my life will bring.  Even though I am retiring from the district, I intend to remain part of the Brahma community and will always be a supporter.

I am very confident that Diamond Bar High School will continue to thrive in the years ahead.  Our staff and especially our leadership team are well prepared to meet the challenges that lie ahead.  Getting past the fiscal crisis and being part of the modernization and construction will be exhilarating.  The district will begin advertising for a new principal on Friday, May 14th.  The interviews will begin around June 14th with the new principal being named around July 1st.  Whoever is fortunate to be named the fourth principal of Diamond Bar High School,  will become the leader of the best high school around!

Denis
