DBHS takes 1st Place in most recent SCIENCE OLYMPIAD competition! It takes about a week to get the final results because there is so much to score and tabulate. In our competition on January 29, we placed first out of the 16 Schools that participated that day. Sunday, February 13, we competed against 217 other schools and we await the results. Here are some pictures from various events today.
The Science Olympiad Club, advised by science teacher Eric Sorensen, has been competing regularly against other schools in 2022. Following COVID safety guidelines, 15 high school kids compete via Zoom with students from other high schools in 26 different events, ranging from computer coding to bird identification to experimental design to building and flying a glider, just to name a few. In the 26 different competitions, students generally work in pairs.
