On March 7, 300 middle and high school students from Walnut Valley Unified School District came to Diamond Bar High School to show off their singing talents.
The Chorale Showcase was co-hosted by Diamond Bar and Walnut High Schools. Suzanne Middle School, led by Jeff Blackstone, Chaparral Middle School, led by Larry Haynes, and South Pointe Middle School, led by Robin Wadsworth, all participated.
“It was the first time this type of event has happened in over 20 years in our district," said Lisa Lopez, Walnut High School’s director. “Since Patty [Breitag, Diamond Bar’s director] and I are friends, we have been talking for years about bringing the Diamond Bar and Walnut schools together.”
Eight choirs each performed classical or folk music for about ten minutes, with music coming from their own school. Dr. Iris Levine from Cal Poly Pomona provided an onstage clinic for each choir.
