WEEK 33 – April 17 – April 22

Welcome back from Spring Break! With only 6 weeks left of school, I hope the week off has left you energized to finish the year strong.

Last weekend, our Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) club traveled to Northern California to compete in the FBLA State Leadership competition. At this competition, (8) Diamond Bar students qualified for the National FBLA competition in June. Congratulations to June Lin, Jessica Zhang, Vinay Bhupathiraju, Ameer Alameddin, Rajvir Dua, Jackson Lennon, Ryan Li, and Brian Su. (6) Diamond Bar students placed at the State Level: Ashvini Bhupatiraju, Jodie Lu, Raishil Pansuria, Sabrina Tseng, Raymond Chang, and Karyn Real. Special thanks to DBHS Teacher and FBLA Advisor, Ty Watkins for supporting our students in this valuable leadership experience.

This week I received notification from State Superintendent Tom Torlakson that we have been selected by the California State Department of Education (CDE) as a Gold Ribbon School! We received this award because of our Wellness Center, and concern for our student’s Social Emotional Learning (SEL). In particular, special thanks to Sandy Davis, Wellness Center Coordinator, Albert Lim, Peer Counseling Advisor, and School Psychologists Stacy Woodward and Lori Lowe. To our knowledge, there is no other high school staffed by Student Wellness Consultants who are trained in peer counseling and assisting student’s social and emotional needs for the entire school day. We selected our Wellness Center as one of our signature programs because of the importance of supporting our students. We are very proud of the support we are offering our students. Special thanks to Instructional Dean, Whitney Prenger, who coordinated the application process for this prestigious award.
