Alumnus Is Rising R&B Star

Diamond Bar High School graduate (Class of 2011) and Diamond Bar resident, Nieman Gatus, is on his way to fulfilling his dream as an R&B artist. Nieman is a singer, songwriter, filmmaker and performer who has a rising number of followers and over one million plays for his single, “Planes,” in which he collaborated with his cousin, Moira Dela Torre.

Nieman’s genre in music is R&B with throwback sounds for the modern age. His first Extended Play (EP) debuted in December of 2014 with five tracks that take you back to 90’s R&B fused with poetic lyrics that are reminisce of his culture, obsession with hipster bikes and trying to find his way. Niemen recently released another EP of his newest song, “Outer Space,” in which he has already received over 1,700 plays.
In high school, Gatus always had a passion for music and the Arts. He was heavily involved in drama and musicals and his songwriting and artistry stemmed from DBHS. Gatus commends Mr. Tietz and Mr. Acciani for their incredible support before his music took off.

After high school, Nieman took his career path towards medicine attending Saddleback and then IVC taking Biology and Chemistry classes. However, his love for music put medicine in the back seat and instead took the driver’s seat towards his love. Nieman performs throughout Southern California and has also taken his shows overseas to the Philippines. His music videos demonstrate an art form of their own which connects with his film background; he is currently finishing his senior year at Chapman as a film student and is a videographer for the Disney Examiner.
