Diamond
Bar High School (DBHS) opened in 1982 and is located in the city of Diamond
Bar, California. The southern portion of the city is served by the Walnut Valley Unified
School District , while the northern portion is served by the Pomona Unified
School District . DBHS is one of two comprehensive high schools in the Walnut
Valley Unified School District. The
district also offers a continuation high school, three middle schools and
nine elementary schools. The
city of Diamond Bar, a primarily residential community, is located at the
crossroads of Orange County, Los Angeles County and San Bernardino County. The estimated population of Diamond Bar is
58,763. Population statistics from the
2000 U.S. Census reflect a diverse population that is 42.8% Asian, 22.5%
White, 18.4% Hispanic/Latino, 4.8% African American, and the rest of the
population listed as Other or Two or More.
There are 17,651 households with an average size of 3.39 members and
an average annual household income of $100,663. The median property value is $594,526.
Diamond Bar is a stable community where homeowner vacancy rates average 0.7%
and rental unit vacancy rates average 1.9%.
DBHS
serves approximately 2,600 students in grades 9-12. Our diverse student
population is best described as “cosmopolitan” (both multi-ethnic and
multi-cultural). A language other than English is spoken in the homes of over
fifty percent of our student population.
We have a Pathways Communications Academy that is funded by a
California Partnership Academies state grant.
Other than this academy, we have no other state or federal
mandates. Parent support has been indispensable on our campus. Our “Magnificent Seven” group consists of the Brahma Boosters, Brahma Foundation, Council of African American Parents (CAAP), Chinese American Parent Association (CAPA), Hispanic Organization for Parents and Education (HOPE), Parents of India and Neighboring Countries (PINC) and Korean American Parent Association (KAPA). These groups provide financial and volunteer support that are essential to the assurance of a quality education. The school's colors are purple and gold. Our mascot is a brahma bull. We are a member of the Palomares League for all athletic competitions except Football, which is a member of the Hacienda League. Diamond Bar High School's code number (CEEB Code) is 050748. Students need this number to register for tests and to complete college applications. Our school office hours are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
