The Diamond Bar Community Foundation is inviting the community to spend an afternoon listening to chamber music performed by talented city youth.

The annual Spotlight on the Arts benefit concert will take place Saturday, March 3 at 2 p.m. at the Mt. San Antonio College Performing Arts Center’s Sophia Clark Theatre. Tickets are $25 per person, with funds going to music programs at Diamond Bar High School, Diamond Ranch High School, and the Pacific Crest Youth Arts Organization.

“Attending the concert shows your support for the wonderful music programs in the city of Diamond Bar,” said Stuart Pompel, chair of the benefit’s concert committee and executive director of the Pacific Crest Youth Arts Organization.

The Diamond Bar High School Symphony Orchestra and the Diamond Ranch High School String Orchestra and Wind Ensemble will perform, with solos from Diamond Ranch students Gregory Ochotorena on trombone and Evan Yang on violin and Diamond Bar students Cindy Sun on violin, Abigail Choi on viola, and David Yu on piano.

“A guest conductor from USC will also be on stage,” Pompel said.

The ensembles and soloists have been working on their pieces since the beginning of winter, and according to Pompel, “in all, more than 200 high school students will be performing."

The Rotary Club of Walnut Valley is a co-sponsor of the event, with other sponsors including the city of Diamond Bar, Mt. SAC, Yellow Cab, and the Pomona Unified School District.
