Dear Sophomore Parents and Student:
Students in the Class of 2015 will have their first opportunity to pass the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) on March 12 and 13, 2013. All sophomores are to report to their testing site prior to 7:45 a.m. Please find the area to which you must report according to the list below. This list is delineated according to the first letter of your last name.
A – K and Y Gym
L – M and U Golden Horseshoe
N, R, V-X and Z LINC
O, Q and S Room 114 - 115
T Room 116
P Room 117
SDC Students Rooms 203/216/207
Students in ELD I, II, III Aerobics Room
Sheltered English Aerobics Room
Pathways students Room 280
Testing will begin promptly at 8:00 a.m. and should last for 4 hours for the English Language Arts sections on Tuesday, and 4 hours for Math on Wednesday. However, students may take as much time as they need for each test. Plan to arrive early to ensure an organized and anxiety-free start.
The State of California does not allow for make-up sessions. Therefore, it is imperative that students remain healthy during the week, to give their strongest performance. The State views students who are absent as having failed the first session. There will be a limited number of opportunities to retake either section over the next two years.
The CAHSEE is based on the California State Standards in English Language Arts and Math. English and Math teachers have been reviewing standards based information that will be covered on the exams. Additional information about the CAHSEE is posted on the California Department of Education web site at www.cde.ca.gov/statetests/hsee.html. If you have any other questions please feel free to call either Jon Goode and Sonja Burns.
A good night’s sleep, a healthy breakfast, and a positive attitude will enhance every student’s performance on each of the testing days.
Sincerely,
John Terry
Assistant Principal
