DB Forum Hosted At DBHS

On Monday, February 8, Diamond Bar High School hosted the Diamond Bar Forum.   More than 100 middle and high school students from DBHS, Walnut High, Ron Hockwalt Academies, Chaparral Middle School, South Pointe Middle School, and Suzanne Middle School spoke the truth about what matters to their peers, to their schools, to their hearts.

Organized by DBHS English Teacher and Peer Coordinators Advisor Sandy Davis, DBHS Peer Coordinators and teacher sponsors from each school led small groups in activities designed to address the stereotypes and peer pressures that weigh on the hearts of our students.

Students experienced “popularity” and “exclusion” using only a deck of cards.  They were reminded of the importance of not judging someone by his/her “wrapper” with Tootsie Roll Pops.   By the end of the day, our students had new insights into the challenges all middle and high school students face, and ways to make a difference in changing those challenges.
