Jeff Brose Named Teacher Of The Year

Math teacher Jeff Brose was named Diamond Bar High School's 2010 Teacher of the Year by his colleagues.  He will represent Diamond Bar High School in the competition for the title of Walnut Valley Unified School District Teacher of the Year.

Here are some of his actions and qualities that helped him win this honor:

  • He wrote the curriculum for Math Analysis/Calculus Honors and pioneered the course at DBHS. He did so without a calculus book by creating a set of 120 worksheets with typed-up solutions.

  • He takes advantage of technology by e-mailing his students at least twice each week. Those messages include hints on homework assignments, opportunities to earn extra credit, homework solutions, and on the night before tests - a reminder about the next day's test.

  • He went beyond all available resource material to create original AP Calculus review packets that are essential for the level of retention that his students are able to acheive. As a result, his AP students have acheived incredible success on the AP exam: lastr year, of his 136 students, 131 took the AP exam, 98.5% passed with 117/131 earning the maximum score of "5".

  • He has a way of inspiring those around him, students and colleagues alike, to accomplish more than they knew they could.
