CLASS OF 2025 GLC NEWSLETTER: Volume 1 Issue 5
REMINDERS/ANNOUNCEMENTS ETC…
Greetings Class of 2025 Students and Parents,
Class of 2025-Diamond Bar High School 9th Graders
As your Grade Level Coordinators-GLCs, we will work with you and guide you through the next four years of your schooling here at DBHS. Periodically, we will send out a GLC Newsletter with timely announcements which affect our class. We encourage parents and students to closely read these GLC Newsletters and avoid missing out on important topics, deadlines, announcements etc.
SEMESTER 1 9TH GRADE
Well students and parents, you did it! You have completed the first semester of 9thgrade. We know you have learned a great deal inside and outside of the classroom. Some students may reflect on their first-semester results with great pride, some may reflect on semester one knowing that their effort could have been better in some areas and some students may reflect on semester one realizing that they fell short of their goals and efforts. By now, you have been notified regarding any problem semester 1 grade areas. Some of these grades may be corrected by performing better semester 2 and some will need to be corrected in summer session 2022. Much depends on the post-high school college goals of the student. 4-Year university-bound students must achieve grades of C- or higher in all academic courses to meet the “minimum” university application subject requirements. Some of our students may be looking at non 4-Year university college options such as Trade School or Community College which do not have minimum subject or grade requirements from high school.
SEMESTER 2 9TH GRADE
We are moving quickly through the first grading period for semester 2. The first-grading period for semester 2 ends on Friday, February 18, 2022. Parents, please discuss this with your student. We trust that good habits developed in semester 1 are continuing in our current semester. We also trust that students who did not realize their grade goals due to poor habits have taken corrective action and are now achieving higher grades due to better habits.
COURSE SELECTION FOR 10TH GRADE
Your GLCs will be visiting our 9th grade English classes starting the week of February 22nd. We will be presenting information to our 9th graders regarding 10th Grade Course Selection. Students will be provided with instructions and materials to share with parents/guardians. Students will have 2-3 weeks to make their 10th grade course selections. Collection of student course requests will take place the week of March 7th.
We will post important course-selection information/documents on our Class of 2025 webpage as they become available. We have posted a few documents already, so take a look.

STUDENT PASSWORDS-PLEASE UPDATE IF NOT ALREADY UPDATED
If you attended Chaparral or South Pointe Middle school prior to DBHS, your password was issued to you so that you may access your WVUSD accounts. We strongly advise you update this password if you have not updated it from the original Password. Updating the password will make inappropriate access to your accounts much more difficult.
PROTECT YOUR VALUABLES
DBHS is a safe environment, but it is not a “perfect” environment. Please protect your valuables while on campus. For example, do not leave your book bag, electronic devices etc. unattended during lunch time. It is not wise to leave any items as you buy your lunch of visit friends etc. Be safe!
GETTING INVOLVED-CAMPUS CLUBS/ACTIVITIES
Last September, our students had the opportunity to learn more about our clubs and activities on campus during our 2-week Club Rush process. Some of our clubs are no longer accepting new members; however, if students are interested in joining a club at this time, we encourage them to inquire with the club advisor or student officers. Some clubs may still allow new members to join. Students can find out more about our clubs on our school webpage, www.dbhs.or under STUDENTS-look for Clubs. The link is below for your convenience.
