Printed Works Wraps A New Design

"DREAM DESIGN DELIVER, a new wrap unveiled on the DBHS utility doors uniquely brings out the purpose of the lower STEAM courtyard at DBHS reading "dash to your future". The Printed Works motto lives up to its name in this three-part process. DREAM: Starting with Printed Works Vice President, Christian Hoppe, seeing the need to beautify the surrounding area of the STEM courtyard he says "We have such a great program, a pioneer program, but when I walk downstairs every day we have nothing to show for on the exterior. It's all just a dark area in a place on campus where nobody hangs out. We had the materials. It was time to do something with the place".

DESIGN: Christian then sent his skilled members, Michael Padilla and Cynthia Liang, to the job to design his vision. The members went between choosing a realistic tunnel theme to a futuristic theme many times but later stuck with the futuristic theme. Michael Padilla says "This is often part of the design process, going back and forth until you get what everyone agrees on ''. Cynthia Liang says `She was very happy to showcase her work and utilize her graphic design skills in multiple softwares".

DELIVER: Finally the crew was able to print their designs after receiving approval from operations manager, Mike Bromberg. Then the crew applied the design to the doors and windows of the utility closet. Padilla says "We used a perforated material for the windows, to still allow light to pass through them, as opposed to solid but waterproof material known as TexWalk on the doors." Christian says "He is really proud of what the team accomplished, saying that the STEM courtyard feels like what it’s supposed to be now."

This isn't the last project for this area however, as the area is still growing, new designs will follow this to showcase the area as well. In addition to outside clients now taking an interest in these wraps, Printed Works will continue to sell and produce custom wraps like this.
