Dear Walnut Valley Parents and Guardians,

We hope you and your family are doing well and looking forward to the much-anticipated Spring Break (April 11- April 18, 2022).

WVUSD would like to take this opportunity to update you on a few items. 

• At-Home COVID-19 Testing Kit Distribution Information

The California Department of Public Health recently sent the At-Home COVID-19 Test Kits to schools for use by students. Your student will receive an at-home COVID-19 testing kit before Spring Break. Your child's school will distribute one kit per student, and your child will bring it home before Spring Break. These kits are for student use and should be utilized when your student presents COVID-19 like symptoms such as a fever, a newly developed cough, diarrhea, or vomiting. The COVID-19 test kit can also be used if your student has been in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. If your student tests positive for COVID-19, please keep them home and contact your student's school immediately for further directions.

Wednesday, you received an email about the distribution of At-Home COVID Test Kits being distributed to all DBHS students. My apologies for the confusion, but the At-Home COVID Test Kits WILL NOT be distributed today, Thursday. Instead, the At-Home COVID Test Kits will be distributed to students in their English classes on Friday, April 8, 2022. 

• Network System/Phones/AERIES Maintenance

Starting Monday, April 11, 2022,  the District Technology Team will be performing upgrades to the District Data Center to improve internet connectivity and reliability. These upgrades will cause intermittent outages of the district's internet connection, phones, and Aeries student information system.

All systems will be back online by Thursday, April 14, 2022. 

• Legislative Bill on Late Start for All Secondary Schools in California

Per Senate Bill 328, all middle schools and high schools in California must adhere to a school start time no earlier than 8:00 a.m. for middle schools and no earlier than 8:30 a.m. for high schools. This law goes into effect on July 1, 2022. WVUSD has been working with schools, transportation, and parent groups to restructure the bell schedules for all 15 schools. Due to the complexities of reworking the bell schedules with school bussing schedules, elementary school start times also had to be adjusted. Also, to provide consistent time for teachers for collaboration and professional development, every elementary school will have an early out day where students are released at an earlier time, once a week. In the coming weeks, you will receive specific information and the new bell schedule for your child's school that will be implemented for the 2022/2023 school year.

• Spring Break Reminder- April 11- April 18. School resumes Tuesday, April 19, 2022.

• 网络系统/电话/AERIES 维护

• 加州所有初中和高中延迟早上开始上课时间法案
