Branding Iron: Diamond Bar Brahmas were victorious in bringing the Branding Iron home to Diamond Bar High School!  It was a suspenseful game and the energy was fantastic as our students and cheerleaders performed our new cheer/chant, “I believe that we will win.”  To view a short, 30-second video that captures some of the energy of that night, click here. To see a short article on the game with a few photos, click here.

CAAP Kicks-off the 2011-2012 School Year Great Educational Symposium:

CAAP held its 15th Annual Parent and Student Educational Symposium on Saturday September 10th at the beautiful Cal State Fullerton Campus – Steven G. Mihaylo Hall. The symposium theme was “Why We Can’t Wait” and featured a host of talented speakers and exhibits. Among the highlights of the event were motivational speeches by Dr. Pedro A. Noguera, Ph.D., & Eric Moore and a Robotics presentation/discussion and demonstration by the Diamond Bar High and West Covina High First Robotics Championship teams. Despite the rain, there was a tremendous turnout for the event and we look forward to seeing you there next year.

Construction News: The Walnut Valley Unified School District Board of Trustees recently approved the final bid on our aquatic center and math building construction project.  Construction should begin shortly with an 18-24 month project completion date. For more info, click here.

College speakers: We will have several college representatives on campus this week from Duke to Scripps.  Speakers will be available at lunch in our career center.  For more information, click here.

DBHS Athletics: Our Girls’ Tennis as well as our Girls’ Golf team are league champions!  Girls’ Volleyball is closing in on a league championship as the season winds down.  Senior James McCreary recently broke his own school record time in cross country.  Congratulations to all!  To follow Brahma Athletics, visit our Athletics calendar by clicking here.

Halloween Costumes: Halloween is upon us and with that comes the yearly reminder that no costume should be ethnically or culturally offensive, gang-related in any manner or form, sexually explicit or offensive, in poor taste, contain illegal drug, tobacco, or alcohol-related references, no look-alike or replica weapons, or conceal the face in any way.  Diamond Bar’s dress code will be in effect.  If you are not sure that your son or daughter’s costume is acceptable, please have him or her contact a GLC.  To review DBHS’s dress code, see page 12 of our student handbook by clicking here.

Magnificent 7 Souplantation Fun-Raiser was a Complete Success!!!

Thank you to everyone that participated in our first SAPA/MAG 7 fundraiser with Souplantation.  The event had sales totaling $1116.65 of which DBHS received 20%.  We also had well over 75 people in attendance which made this an extremely successful event. One of our parents commented “It was nice seeing all DBHS parents there. My heart warmed up when I saw so many of the USB and yearbook kids too”.  Again, thanks to all.
