Dear DBHS Parent/Guardian,
As we head into the winter break, I would like to take a minute to wish you and yours a pleasant vacation and a happy, healthy new year. It has been a great school year so far and we look forward to a wonderful second semester after a restful two weeks.
Below you will find my Principal’s Newsletter. The goal of the newsletter is to include you as part of the DBHS family as well as make you aware of all the great activities and opportunities available to you and your students. Time sensitive activities/events are highlighted in red.

America’s Best and Brightest:
Senior Sean Jaw was recently recognized by the Siemens Foundation as a semifinalist in the 2011-2012 Competition in Math. Three hundred science research projects were selectd from over 1,500 entries and Sean was among 48 semifinalists in the entire state of California! We are extremely proud of his accomplishment! Brahma Boosters January Meeting:
The Brahma Booster organization would like to invite all DBHS supporters to attend the next Brahma Boosters meeting which will be held on Tuesday, January 31st at 7 pm in the Golden Horseshoe. Come to this meeting and get insights on how you may become a Booster Member and be a part of the Booster support team. CAAP Stand and Deliver Event:
CAAP held their Stand and Deliver event on Sunday December 4th 2011, at Cal State Fullerton in Langsdorf Hall, room 215. CAAP Seniors explained how they have prepared themselves to attend the colleges of their choice. CAAP is also planning a New Years Eve event at the Planes of Fame at Chino Airport. District Of Choice Application Now Open:
The Walnut Valley Unified School District is now accepting applications for non-WVUSD students (excluding Rowland Unified attendees) to attend school in the district. The deadline for applying is December 31st. For more information, please click here.
HOPE’s 5th Annual Christmas Party A Success!:
It is that time of year again when we take a break from monthly meetings, fundraisers, SAT Boot Camps, etc., and just have fun socializing with all our HOPE member's family and friends at our annual Christmas "potluck" party. This year's party was full of good food, beverages, music, dancing, games, and just good old fashioned conversation. Click here to view the HOPE website for more fun and exciting upcoming events. New Year’s Eve Bingo Extravaganza:
Brahma Boosters will be hosting a special New Year’s Eve bingo event. Please join us for a great evening of fun giveaways and over $15,000 in cash payouts. For more information, click here to read the Diamond Bar Patch coverage on the event.
SAPA Alumni Night: (see attachment)
The South Asian Parents’ Association is hosting an alumni evening for current students and parents on January 4th at 7 pm in the Golden Horseshoe. DBHS alumni from UCLA, USC, Cal, and many state and community colleges will be there to chat with current students and parents. This event is open to all parents and students interested in hearing first-hand how to prepare successfully for the transition to college. Pizza will be provided. Walnut Valley Education Foundation Food Truck Event A Success:
The Walnut Valley Education Foundation teamed up with the Walnut Valley Food Bank to host a first-ever gourmet food truck festival on Saturday November 19th, 2011. Food trucks that participated included the Lime Truck, winners of the "Great Food Truck Race 2," the Nom Nom Truck from the "Great Food Truck Race 1," and Don Chow's Tacos from "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives" - all featured on the Food Network. There were over 2000 attendees who all enjoyed the dining. Diamond Bar High School supported in a BIG way by sending over 30 student volunteers to support.
