WVUSD 5K Run/Walk And 1K Fun Run To Benefit Students

Story By Catherine Garcia, DiamondBarPatch

On Sunday, March 4, members of the community will get together to have fun and raise funds for the Walnut Valley Unified School District during the WVUSD 5K Run/Walk and 1K Fun Run.

The event, now in its third year, was established in order to bring all district schools together for a celebration. Thanks to the Walnut Valley Educational Foundation, the race has also raised more than $85,000 for schools, purchasing everything from fitness equipment to new reading materials for libraries to iPad educational apps.

The fun starts Saturday, March 3, at Walnut High School, where the Wheel Food Fest will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Buttermilk Truck, The Lime Truck, The Grilled Cheese Truck, and seven other gourmet food trucks will be on hand, and entertainment will be provided by performing arts groups from district schools. Racers can register at the event, and pick up their race bibs.

The run/walk will be held at Diamond Bar High School, with a kid’s 1K Fun Run set for 8 a.m., and the 5K at 8:30 a.m. The deadline to register online is Wednesday, February 29. Registration costs range from $10 to $20 for kids, $15 to $25 for WVUSD students, and $25 to $35 for adults.
