Below you will find my Principal’s Newsletter. The goal of the newsletter is to include you as part of the DBHS family as well as make you aware of all the great activities and opportunities available to you and your students. Time sensitive activities/events are highlighted in red.
Be sure to scan the opportunities listed below. Most activities have an embedded link so that you can quickly and conveniently get more info and/or register if interested.

30th anniversary Multicultural Spring Carnival - Diamond Bar High School and the Hispanic Organization of Parents for Education (HOPE) will be hosting their first-ever Multicultural Spring Carnival from Friday, February 17th to Sunday, February 19th. This event, in partnership with Ted Holcomb – Fiesta de carnival Promotions will feature mechanical rides, game booths, student performances, etc. There is no entry fee for the event however there is a $1.00 ride ticket fee. Ride tickets may also be purchased in advance for 50% off at the school. The carnival will be held in the parking lot in front of the school at 21400 E. Pathfinder Road. The carnival times are: Friday - 5pm to 11pm, Saturday – 2pm to 11pm, and Sunday - 2pm to 11pm (Monday is a Holiday). This event is open to the community – all are welcomed.
ATHLETICS UPDATE: Brahma Athletics are doing fantastic! Here’s the most recent update:
- Wrestling is competing today in CIF. 11 of our 13 Wrestlers qualified for CIF—that’s the most in our entire school history!!!
- Girls Basketball is #5 seed in CIF playoffs. They will host La Sierra Saturday night in Walnut High School’s gym at 7:00 pm. Let’s show them some Brahma pride!
- Boys Basketball is in 3rd place in league and will play 1st round at Glendale High School tonight at 7:00 pm.
- Boys Soccer achieved their 1st league title in 10 years last night. With that win came their first CIF playoff game in 17 years! They will play at Crescenta Valley on Tuesday, 2/21 at 3:00 pm.
- Girls Soccer has their first league title in 6 years! They will host Arroyo Grande today at 3:00 pm.
We are very proud of our Brahma athletes and encourage you to cheer them on at their various events!
BOEING CORPORATION will be giving our Brahma Tech students a unique opportunity on February 21st. Boeing is hosting several local students to participate as they celebrate the many contributions engineers have made to this nation and their company. Their goal is to provide our students with insights to their Boeing products and awareness on the application of math and science in the real world. Our students will listen to several guest speakers that will share their experiences to enable them to get a greater understanding on the various science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) careers at Boeing. Brahma Tech students will also be competing in the Raytheon competition next week. For more information on our Brahma Tech program, click here.
COACH TONY McCABE was recently honored as CIF Southern Section Golf Coach of the year: Each year, one high school coach is selected for the California Coaches’ Association Coach of the Year in each sport. This year, for the first time ever, the California Coaches Association is presenting Coach of the Year awards for each season of sport for the Southern Section. The coaches selected for the season of sport awards will be automatically entered in the State Coach of the Year selection, along with coaches from the other nine sections. Coaches are nominated by their peers and then five finalists are selected for each fall sport. Coach McCabe was also honored by the WVUSD school board on Wednesday, February 15th. Congratulations, Coach McCabe! Girls Golf had a tremendous year and this is just another reflection of what a great sports school we have always been. For more info, click here.
CHEER & SONG recently competed at both Spirit Spectacular and Regionals. At the Spirit Spectacular, both teams took home 2nd place and qualified for a state championship competition in late February. At regional competitions, the Cheer team took home 3rd place our Song team took home 1st place beating out some of the top teams in all of Southern California. Way to go Cheer and Song! We are proud of you!
Birthday Announcements: Get your student’s birthday up in lights! Stop by the front office to purchase a DBHS birthday marquee message for just $10.
Brahma Boosters February Meeting: The Brahma Booster organization would like to invite all DBHS supporters to attend the next Brahma Boosters meeting which will be held on Tuesday, February 28th at 7 pm in the Golden Horseshoe. Come to this meeting and get insights on how you may become a Booster Member and be a part of the Booster support team. BRAHMA FOUNDATION’S ANNUAL FUNDRAISER has begun! Please see the dbhs.org website for more information. All proceeds benefit Diamond Bar High School students and teachers! Thank you for your support!
CAAP Casino Night: The Council of African American Parents is proud to announce their Casino Night which will be held on Saturday, March 17th from 6:00 pm to midnight. This year’s event will be held at the Sheraton Fairplex, Avalon Room, at 601 West McKinley, Pomona.
CAAP 20 Year Celebration Event: The CAAP parent group is celebrating their 20 Years of parent support by having a celebration event on Sunday, June 10th, 2012 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Titan Center within Cal State Fullerton. Stay tuned for more information as the school year progresses!
FOOD TRUCK FESTIVAL: Our first food truck festival, held on Saturday, February 11th was a great success. The Magnificent 7 parent group, lead by Mr. Clark Rucker, hosted the event as thousands of people stopped by to enjoy one of the many 8 food trucks on campus that day. It was a great community event and fantastic fundraiser for the school. We intend to hold monthly food truck events that will resume in April. Keep posted for future events. Free Tutoring! CSF tutoring is now available. Peer tutoring available in all subjects, Mondays-Thursdays in room 232 from 3:00-4:30 pm, no appointment necessary! Please take advantage of this free and helpful resource!
US PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLAR CANDIDATE: Senior, Richard Koh has been selected as a candidate for the US Presidential scholars program. Based on accomplishments in many areas academic, artistic success leadership, involvement in school and community and representing excellence in education and the promise of greatness in America’s youth. 500 Finalists will be invited to Washington, DC in June to participate in national recognition weekend and presentation of the presidential scholar’s medallion during a ceremony sponsored by the White House. We wish Richard luck in this endeavor and are proud that he represents DBHS.
