After beating league opponent Bonita, 15-3, Diamond Bar Mens Tennis took on Los Altos and West Covina. In short, The team dominated. In the shortest time ever, your Brahmas defeated Los Altos 18 - 0 in just an hour and twenty minutes.
Steward Yang accomplished a rarity in tennis, a "Golden Set" against Los Alto High's number one singles player. He won the set not allowing his opponent A SINGLE POINT! Not to be upstaged, two days later, Sophomore , Elijah Ang, accomplished a Golden set against West Covina! These matches left our team hungry for a tougher, more challenging match.
Wednesday, March 14, Valencia of Placentia provided just what the team was looking for. In an epic battle, both ranked teams slugged it out in one of the most exciting matches ever at Diamond Bar. The Brahmas took the early lead, 4-2. Valencia overcame the deficit and took the lead going into the last round, 7-5. During the last round, senior Derek Fu had to battle against leg cramps and had to have help just to stand up on the court so that his partner, Naoki Hisamoto, could serve out the last point of their set. Diamond Bar took the last round, 4-2, to tie up the set scores, 9-9. After all games were counted, your gutty little Brahmas had 76 games to Valencia's 75!
The team faces Diamond Ranch Thursday, March 15, and is sharpening it's horns for the Thursday, March 22, match at Walnut.
