Diamond Bar High School brought home medals from the Southern California State Science Olympiad competition in Anaheim April 14.
Science Olympiad is one of the premier science competitions in the country, with more than 6,000 teams participating.
Diamond Bar High School tied for 19th place, and medaled in five events, with second place awards in Chemistry and Towers.
Advisor Angela Jensvold shared that the team’s tower had a mass of just 7.9 grams and held the maximum 15 kg of sand, but their helicopter became stuck in a light fixture, and they lost the chance to do better in the event.
The Science Olympiad team placed second (out of 27 teams) in Towers and Chemistry Lab at the State Championships. Our tower had a mass of only 7.9 grams, and still held the maximum 15 kg of sand!
