VARSITY BOYS BASKETBALL UPDATE:

It has been awhile since our last update. Your “gutty little brahmas” have been fighting hard to proudly represent DBHS this season. Friday, January 16, they traveled to Bonita High and defeated the Bearcats 90 to 82. This is one of the more high scoring games in recent Diamond Bar history.

On Monday, January 19, they participated in the Los Osos High school MLK,jr. Day Event. There, they dispatched a pretty talented Silverado squad 80 to 67. In both games, they were up by as much as 23 in the second half. This gave the Brahmas the opportunity to take control of the newly formed Palomares League.

On Wednesday, January 21, they hosted the highly touted Glendora High. Glendora came in undefeated in league. We played great defense but were unable to find a rhythm on offense. We fell 39 to 33. This is the lowest we have scored all season. That puts our league record at 2 and 2 and overall record at 11 -9.

Tonight, January 23, we travel to Ayala High School in Chino Hills for another tough match-up. If you live in the area it would be great to see our side of the stands filled with purple.

Coach McCabe’s girls are also 2 and 2 in league and the Ayala Girls are also a formidable foe. The girls game is at 5:00 and the boys is at 6:30.

*A special thanks goes to Catherine Real and John Terry for travelling to our away games and supporting the team. Catherine traveled on Friday night to our game at Bonita and congratulated the boys after their victory. Thank you to Coach Hughes and the football staff for working the score table at all the home games.

Sincerely,
Chris Holmes
Assistant boys basketball coach DBHS
“Go Brahmas”

P.S.
Just as a reminder, the Brahmas are led by Diamond Bar and USC graduate – Henry Frierson.
Our captains are two sports stars Kyle Peterson, Tyler Peterson and Brandon Rice.

The really well dressed executive that sits in the Number 1 chair is Xerox Vice President and Diamond Bar community leader Sam Slay (who has been helping the Brahmas for over 20 years).
