Brahmas Compete At Math Day At The Beach

Saturday, March 14, a team of six Brahmas went to compete at Cal State University of Long Beach's annual "Math Day at the Beach". The team was composed of Peyrin Kao, Forrest Hu, Benjamin Chen, Matthew Ho and Kevin Gu. Howard Alcosser is their advisor.

After last year’s first place finish in Division B, the Diamond Bar High team was moved up to the very tough Division A with approximately 15 very competitive teams.  When it was over, the Brahma team was very excited with their fifth place finish in Division A.

After the individual’s round, Benjamin Chen was in a tie for first place.  After the face-off, Benjamin finished the individual competition in third place.

Math Day at the Beach is a problem-solving festival for Southern California high school students who want to have fun with mathematics and enjoy a day of camaraderie with university mathematics students and professors. High schools of Southern California are invited to bring a team of six students.
