Each year CIF-SS recognizes the top team GPAs for 22 sports in two divisions based on enrollment. We are in the 1500+ division. There were over 1700 entries and Diamond Bar was well represented (see below). In addition, each school can name a male and female student-athlete of the year. This award is for a senior varsity athlete who has a 3.5 or above and actively participates in extracurricular activities. In other words it’s not based solely on athletic performance, but rather it’s a recognition of a very well-rounded student-athlete. This year I’m proud to recognize the following:
Derek Peng – water polo, 4.00, participates in band, robotics, Leo club, CSF, FBLA, Link Crew
Molly McCabe – golf, basketball, 3.70, participates in Best Buddies (president), Gay Straight Alliance (president), Yearbook (Editor in Chief)
These teams placed in the top 10 by sport:
Boys water polo, 2nd, 3.60
Girls swimming, 3rd, 3.75
Boys golf, 3rd, 3.58
