Message From Retiring Boys Tennis Coach Hamel

Monday, May 18, our boys tennis season came to an end. Diamond Bar was no match for the San Clemente Tritons. Their singles line-up overwhelmed the Brahmas, 9-0. In doubles, Our team made itself proud by winning four of the nine doubles sets. Our #1 doubles team of Russell Chen and David Chee finished their season with a clean sweep over San Clemente, 6-0, 7-6, 6-0. Our final point was won by seniors and #2 doubles team, Daniel Chai and Roger Yang bringing, bringing the final score to 4-14. Sophomore, Neil Tengbumroong qualified and has yet to compete in the CIF Individual Tournament which begins a week from Thursday. Yes, that’s graduation day.

Ladies and Gents,

It’s been a great ride. Coaching the Brahma Boys has been an honor filled with unforgettable memories. I want to thank all of you for your support and encouragement to both our players and to me over these past sixteen years. High on our list of priorities was to always be a team that could win or lose with dignity, honor and humility. We wanted to be a team that our school, staff and community could always speak of with pride. I feel confident walking away from this position knowing we have accomplished these things.

Coaching a sport is an amazing, challenging and unique experience. Those of you who never have, ought to give it a try some time.

“Stay thirsty my friends.”

And with that...exit stage left…curtain draws to a close…lights out.
