Principal's Memo - Week 6

Hello Brahmas!

WEEK 6 – September 19 - September 23, 2016

Reflection

Week 6 marks the end of our 1st Progress Report Grading Period. Login to Parent Portal on Wednesday, September 28 to view the 6-Week Progress Report. The progress report can be met with excitement and anxiety. The end of the grading period can show the hard work your child has been dedicating to his or her studies or perhaps the report is a warning to have a discussion with your child about academic effort and how to communicate with teachers. Either way, academic achievement is one of our key focus areas, and we are concentrating on the academic success of all of our students. We will use this data to help improve our instruction and enhance the learning environment for our students. Also, the end of the grading period is one of the busiest times of the year for teachers as many late hours are spent grading assignments and updating the grade book for students. Special thanks to all Brahma teachers whose job continues long after the school day ends! As a reminder, the grades in the 6 Week Progress Report do not officially appear on your child’s official academic transcript and remember to  login to Parent Portal to monitor the academic progress of your child.

Speaking of amazing teachers… recently, I was contacted by the Dean of Admissions from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Mr. Stuart Schmill. Mr. Schmill wanted to let me know that two Diamond Bar teachers, Mrs. Teresa Hebert & Mr. Johnny Hwang were identified by students from their incoming freshman class for having made a personal impact on their academic development. In his message, he was saying “thank you” for the direct benefit our teachers have on improving society as a whole. Amazing, right?! As principal, I could not agree more, and want to congratulate Mrs. Hebert and Mr. Hwang for a job well done!
