Hello Brahmas,
WEEK 15 – November 21 – November 22, 2016
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! I hope the three days off this week will be refreshing for you and your family. No school on Wednesday 11/23, Thursday 11/24, and Friday 11/25.
Reflection:
We have much to be thankful for in Diamond Bar! First I would like to say thanks to our amazing Parent Groups, the Mag 7. The Mag 7 includes the Brahma Foundation, Brahma Boosters, Chinese American Parent Association (CAPA), Council of African American Parents (CAAP), Hispanic Organization of Parents and Education (HOPE), Korean American Parent Association (KAPA), and South Asia Parent Association (SAPA). Since the beginning of this school year, our parent groups have given generously to provide important upgrades and resources for our school. Specifically, we have received over $2500 for Teacher Appreciation, and approximately $2700 donated from the Rodeo Round-up. We are getting new LED Projectors for the Gym, a new Sound System for Stadium, new Chrome Book Cart, and new Wrestling Mats. So far this year, over $60K has been given to Diamond Bar High School by our phenomenal parents!! Again, Thank you very much Brahma Parents!
Our Performing Arts Directors give us much to be thankful for as well. Our Drama Director Beatrice Casagran, Dance Director, Kari Simonson, and Music Directors, Steve Acciani, & Marie Sato provide award winning and outstanding performance opportunities for our students.
In Drama, the fall production, Journey to the West, was spectacular. The student performances, set design and overall performance was an amazing display of our talented students. In fact, the production was so good, the California Educational Theater Association (CETA) Judges gave our students top scores! Our top scores qualify us for performing in the CETA Theater Festival in January!! Click HERE for more info about CETA.
In Dance, our Diamond Bar Dance Department’s Fall Concert made you want to move! The music quality, choreography and performances were exciting and well done. I was most impressed by the creativity and originality of our dancers. The Dance program consists of all grade levels and dance abilities. Performances in this concert included our Dance Company, Intermediate Ensemble, and Advanced Ensemble. Get ready for the Spring Dance Competition season in February 2017…it’s going to be great!
In Music, our Thundering Herd is for the third year in a row, (2014, 2015, 2016) the top Marching Band in Southern California! At the Arcadia Band Review, we won the Sweepstakes and numerous other awards. Most importantly, senior Rebecca Kimn won 1st Place Military Drum Major for the third year in a row. In the 63-year history of the Arcadia Band Review, Rebecca is the first Military Drum Major to win 3 years in a row! Congratulations to the Brahma Marching Band!
