Varsity Boys and Varsity Combined (Boys and Girls) Swim crowned Champions at Mt Sac High School Winterfest Championships
For the first time in school history, DBHS swim team brings home the Championship Title of the High School Winterfest Championships hosted by Mount San Antonio College. This 2-day championship meet, held on Friday 3/10 and Saturday 3/11, featured 34 high schools and over 1,100 swimmers from all over California and even Nevada. Both our JV and Varsity swimmers performed very well with many swimming their personal best times. Below are our varsity swimmers who won 1st place in their events:
* Girls 200 medley relay - Kathleen Gani(Sr), Kelsey Lloyd(Jr), Kelly Cheng(Jr), Caitlyn Kanemitsu(So)
* Boys 200 IM - Prestin Li(Sr)
* Girls 50 free - Kathleen Gani(Sr)
* Boys 100 free - William Huang(Jr)
* Boys 500 free - David Wang(Jr)
* Girls 100 breast -Kelsey Lloyd(Jr)
* Boys 100 breast - Prestin Li(Sr)
* Boys 400 free relay - David Wang(Jr), Michael Lee(Jr), Prestin Li(Sr), William Huang(Jr)
At the end of the meet, DBHS Varsity Boys, who are the back-to-back defending Palomares League Champions, was crowned the “HS Winterfest Meet Champions”, while our Varsity Boys and Girls also won the “Overall Combined Team Champions”.
In addition, four new school records were set at this meet:
* Girls 200 free – Kelly Cheng(Jr), 1:54.30 (old record 1:54.96 by Kelly Cheng in 2016)
* Boys 100 breast – Prestin Li(Sr), 56.96 (old record 58.44 by Greg Lee in 2015)
* Boys 200 medley relay – David Wang(Jr), Prestin Li(Sr), Kevin Vargas(So), William Huang(Jr), 1:38.03 (old record 1:39.99 in 2015)
* Boys 400 free relay – David Wang(Jr), Michael Lee(Jr), Prestin Li(Sr), William Huang(Jr), 3:10.94 (old record 3:13.66 in 2016)
