Hello Brahmas,
End of WEEK 32 – April 3 – April 8
Welcome to Spring Break! I hope everyone’s first day of break was relaxing and enjoyable. As I reflect on last week, I am pleased to share with you news about our New Head Football Coach, Robotics World Championships, our Evening of Colors, and SBAC Updates.
Starting with yesterday, April 7, I am both excited and honored to introduce our new Head Football Coach, Kevin Argumosa. Coach Argumosa’s selection (pending WVUSD Board of Trustees approval in April) comes with almost two decades of football coaching experience. Most recently, Coach Argumosa was the Defensive Coordinator at Los Altos High School. After Board approval, we will have a “Meet the Coach Night,” and officially welcome Coach Argumosa to Diamond Bar High School.
Last Saturday, our Robotics club, Team Sprocket qualified for the World Championship Robotics competition in Houston, Texas. During the Orange County Regional competition, Team Sprocket was awarded the regional event wild card. Special thanks to our Advisor and Instructional Dean, Gabriel Aguilar for hours of dedication and support to get our students ready to compete! The competition is April 19 - 22.
Also last weekend, I attended our fourth annual “Evening of Colors” hosted by our South Asian Parent Association (SAPA). I was honored by SAPA’s exceptional display of cultural diversity and fundraising commitment for Diamond Bar High. This event raised money by celebrating Brahma Performing Arts, Indian Culture, and community partnerships. Special thanks to SAPA President Sarbani Sharma for organizing such an amazing fundraiser for our students! If you were not able to attend, I hope you can attend next year. It is a wonderful experience for our entire school community to support!
Tuesday, April 4, we finished our last day of SBAC testing! Our juniors did an outstanding job on the SBAC. Special thanks to our DBHS Teachers who proctored the exams, Instructional Dean, Gabriel Aguilar, Technology Coordinator, Randy Thomas, and Operations Manager Mike Bromberg for organizing the best SBAC administration we have ever had. Over 800 students logged on to Chrome Books and were able to complete 4 days of testing without a hitch! Most importantly, we were excited to celebrate our SBAC performance by providing a DJ, Pizza lunch, and Kona Ice Snow Cones for all students who completed their entire SBAC. Thanks to Grade Level Coordinator, Jenna Brummett for the idea to honor students and DBHS Teacher, Pat Wakefield for helping organize the whole event. Go Brahmas!
