Brahma Programmers Place Second At HSPC

The First SoCal High School Programming Competition (HSPC) hosted by Cal Poly Pomona (CPP) took place last Saturday, May 20, 2017 where senior Sabrina Tseng won 2nd place in the individual category. Seniors Peter Thompson and William He won 2nd place in the team category.

Students competed individually or with a teammate to demonstrate their programming skills and problem solving abilities by attempting to solve six programming problems within a three hour period. Students were required to code in Java, Python, or C++.

These students are well equipped to advance their studies in any STEM field where programming is becoming a major tool in conducting research and solving everyday problems. Sabrina and Peter interned at The Boeing Company last summer where Peter was challenged with writing a program that implemented complex mathematical equations and formulas to be used for collision detection. Sabrina was charged with learning C# in order to improve the efficiency of a multifaceted project.

Congratulations Sabrina, Peter, and William! You are an excellent representation of DBHS’s college and career ready student body.
