WEEK 3 – August 28 – September 1  

Welcome to Branding Iron Week!

This week we are expecting a serious heat wave, and if today is any indication, it is going to be challenging to stay cool. As such, listed below are our heat protocols.

*Physical Education (PE) Classes

All outdoor PE activity was cancelled, except for the PE classes that are currently in the swim unit, Kinesiology I. Kinesiology II classes were also invited to swim if they desired. We will continue this protocol until the temperatures are not risking the health of our students.

* DBHS Athletics: Extreme Heat Protocol - Daily monitoring of environmental conditions:

In Athletics, the protocol calls for the determination of environmental conditions at the practice/contest site using the Kestrel 4400 Wet Bulb Globe Thermometer (WBGT). Thirty (30) minutes prior to the start of activity, environmental readings were taken, and practice was postponed until the WBGT guidelines were achieved at 5pm (Attached below are detailed WBGT Guidelines).

Updates and Reminders: 

• Back To School Night - Wednesday, August 30 @ 7pm. We look forward to welcoming you to campus! ClickHERE for the BTSN schedule, and attached to this email is a detailed list of activities and schedules for BTSN.

• Undergraduate Pictures – Wednesday, August 30 in the Golden Horseshoe, 7am – 3pm.

• Late Start, Thursday, August 31, school starts at 9:30 am.

• Minimum Day this Friday, September 1, school ends at 12:11pm. Later at night, is our Branding Iron Footballgame @ Walnut High School. Kickoff is 7pm!

• The Last day to DROP A CLASS without it showing on the official transcript is Friday, September 8. If students want to drop a class, they will need a signed note from their parent to drop. Please have your student see their GLC if they want to drop.

Athletic Events:

• Girls’ Tennis canceled 8/29 due to hot weather.
• Frosh Football @ Walnut… game time changed to 5:00 pm.
