During the past few months, WVUSD students from both Diamond Bar High and Walnut High have tried out and earned spots on the All-Southern Honor Choirs and the All-State Honor Choirs.
The All-Southern High School Choir performance was at the University of Redlands November 17 & 18. The group was chosen based on auditions. Each singer had to prepare an Italian aria, be able to sing a major and minor triad, as well as the major and chromatic scale, sight read, and sing back notes using tonal memory. They were scored out of 100. The top high school singers in Southern California are chosen. There were three district honor choirs: men's, women's, and mixed. There were about a hundred singers in each choir.
The All-State High School Honor Choir performance was February 15-17. The rehearsals were at San Jose State. The performance was at St. Joseph's Basilica. There were the same type of three choirs, with each having 100 singers. All the singers were the elite singers from the entire state of California! Congratulations!
