Sunday, March 1, Diamond Bar Community Foundation’s Community Spotlight on the Arts was held at Mt. SAC. DBHS performers included senior Lauren Ewing on trumpet, freshman Rebecca Traynor on ballet pointe, sophomores Jonathon Chen and Tim Chin on violin, sophomore Alvin Ma on cello, junior Eunice Lee on violin, freshman Shawn Wright on piano, junior Ryker Cook on alto saxophone, junior William Bamford on bass, and graduate Emily Tuan on flute.
The DBHS Symphony Orchestra also performed beautifully, accompanying a number of students as well as performing Aaron Copeland’s “Hoe Down” to close the afternoon’s Spotlight. Dr. Simms, WVUSD Superintendent, wanted to especially recognize Emily Tuan's flute solo accompanied by the DBHS orchestra. Emily is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Music degree in flute performance under Jim Walker at the Colburn Conservatory in Los Angeles. As always, thank you to DBHS band directors Mark Gunderson and Steve Acciani for the extraordinary work they do with our students.
