Our Boys' Tennis team traveled to Pasadena Friday, April 17, to play the Titans of San Marino. In a strange turn of events, San Marino's number one, highly ranked singles player was missing, playing a national tournament elsewhere. Just to even things up, Diamond Bar's Philip Kozan succumbed to leg cramps early in his first set serving at 1-2. He defaulted the set 1-6. At the same time, our #2 singles player, Derick Tom played thru illness and allergies. Still, he won his first set, 6-3. Diamond Bar's #1 and 2 doubles both won as well as our #3 singles player, Steward Yang. The first round went to the Brahmas, 4-2. The Titans were stubborn and never gave up. At the end of the day, San Marino took the match 10-8.... a great effort by all players on both teams. We now prepare to host Damien Tuesday, April 21. Your Brahmas are 14-2 and 8-0 in league.
If you see the tennis boys, congratulate them on their 14-4 victory over Damien and their 3rd consecutive Sierra League Championship. With court temperatures over 110 degrees, Maiki Kitagawa and Austin Chen pulled off a very rare "perfect set"...a "Golden Set" as it is called in the tennis world. They won the set without giving up a SINGLE POINT to their opponents.
