Here are a few items of interest for your review from your DBHS Class of 2021 Grade Level Coordinators:

 

SAT and ACT Test Preparation/Test Practice Opportunity-FREE

Just before the holiday break, we emailed you information on a Test Preparation program offered to our sophomores free of charge-No strings attached.  The free opportunity expires on March 1, 2019.  It is a self-paced program so students can spend as little or as much time exploring the tests as desired.  It is for both the SAT and the ACT.

Below is the email we sent out in December with the links to the test-preparation site:

Dear Students,

Diamond Bar High School has provided you with access to Method Test Prep, an online course that helps students build their ACT and SAT skills. 

To use the program, you will need to set up an account by clicking on the following link and filling in the signup information:

You will need to use the Referral Code: tkn.44670476 when setting up your account. Make sure to include the entire code—including tkn. (tkn.44670476)

Included in this email are two videos that will give you an idea of how the online program from Method Test Prep works and the first 7 things you should do on Method Test Prep.

SAT and ACT Test Preparation/Test Practice Opportunity-FREE (Continued)

Students who use Method Test Prep to study for the ACT and SAT tests have increased their scores on the ACT by 3 or more points, and on the SAT by 150 or more points!

Take advantage of this online tool to ensure you are familiar with these exams.

GLC NEWS AND NOTES NEWSLETTER VOL. 2  Issue #3 CONTINUES BELOW…

 

1.       PROGRESS REPORTS      

First semester grades. Recently, you should have received your student’s grade report in the mail with his or her final semester-one grades.  These grades are the final grades for the semester and will be placed on the student’s permanent academic transcript.

 

2.       Summer School 2019

Information on summer school 2019 will be available early to mid-February at the latest via our school website, www.dbhs.org.               If interested, keep checking the website for the release of this information.  If your student must attend summer session to repeat/remediate a course, your GLC will meet with the student and provide the registration information.  This will take place in February as well.  For family-planning purposes, Summer school dates are set for June 10, 2019 through July 18, 2019. 

 

3.       COLLEGE FAIR INFORMATION – GREAT EVENT!!

THE National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) is hosting their annual College Fair on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at the Ontario Convention Center.  Students can register for free at the following website:  www.GOTOMYNCF.COM.  This is during our spring break from school.  Times for the event are 9:00 am to Noon and again from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.  This is a great way for our students to visit with over 150 college and university representatives.  Workshops are also available on topics such as How to Select a College, Financing an Education, College-Bound Athlete, ACT/SAT Preparation, College Essay, 1st Generation College Student.  Students and parents are invited.  Register in advance at the above website.

 

4.       OFF-CAMPUS OPPORTUNITIES

If your student is looking for educational opportunities off campus please use the school website, www.dbhs.org.  Go to the Guidance Page and look for the Link-Off Campus Opportunities. Many events take place off campus and your student may find these events beneficial.
