Class Syllabus
English II Honors is an integrated English/Language Arts class is which selected works of literature serve as the basis for the language arts program. Activities grow out of the literature to help develop language fluency and expand understanding. An emphasis is placed on writing, critical thinking, and comprehension skills. Supporting skills, such as spelling and grammar grow out of the demands of reading and writing.

During the year each student will be expected to participate in independent reading. They will read A Tale of Two Cities first semester and Pride and Prejudice or Jane Eyre second semester.
During second semester, the students will prepare for and take the CAHSEE.
Grading
Students receive grades for homework, class assignments, quizzes, tests (objective as well as essay), oral reports, group projects, and writing assingments. Points are given for all graded assignments, with the highest point values placed on tests, projects, and papers.
