DBHS CLASS OF 2011 #brahmabuilt
Friday, May 13, 2022, ABC News Congressional Correspondent and DBHS Alum (Class of 2011) Rachel Scott gave the commencement speech at her college alma mater, the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism!
One of the youngest correspondents in the history of broadcast network news — and one of the very few Black American network news reporters — to cover Capitol Hill, Scott is the congressional correspondent across all ABC News programs and platforms, including “Good Morning America,” “World News Tonight with David Muir,” “Nightline,” and “20/20.”
Scott’s first day covering Capitol Hill was January 6, 2021, when she reported from the front lines amid the deadly attack. In the weeks that followed, she led the network’s coverage of the historic second impeachment trial of former President Donald Trump.
Six months later, at just 28-years-old, Scott persistently questioned Russian President Vladimir Putin during a solo news conference following the Russian leader’s first face-to-face meeting with U.S. President Joe Biden.
Earning her bachelor’s degree in journalism from USC Annenberg in 2016, Scott began as a production associate for ABC News Live in 2016 while taking on an additional role as a weekend general assignment reporter for ABC’s New Haven, CT, affiliate WTNH-TV. In 2019, Scott was assigned to ABC’s White House team in Washington, D.C., before becoming the network’s embedded journalist in the Trump campaign. Just one year later, Scott was promoted to White House and D.C. correspondent, and named Emerging Journalist of the Year by the National Association of Black Journalists.

Building Diamond Bar High 1981
Slides of Diamond Bar High School's construction in 1981 were recently discovered while cleaning out files in the school's administration office. When our school opened its doors to students for the first time 35 years ago, it was made up of five buildings, including the gym and locker room. Today, the school has nine buildings, including an aquatic center, and is in the planning stages for a new instrumental music building. We hope you enjoy this look back as we begin our 2017-18 school year.

Diamond Bar High School Receives National Recognition for Commitment to Empowering Students for the Second Consecutive Year. Named as a distinguished school for STEM and career learning program.
Diamond Bar High School announced today that it has been recognized as a Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Distinguished School for providing broad access to transformative learning opportunities for students through PLTW Engineering. It is one of just 64 high schools across the U.S. to receive this honor and only one of three schools in California to receive this award in consecutive years. PLTW is a nonprofit organization that serves millions of PreK-12 students and teachers in schools across the U.S.
“We are incredibly proud of our PLTW Engineering students and instructor, Mr. Johnny Hwang, for their commitment to this rigorous academic program and achievements in STEM fields. These students are developing the critical thinking and problem solving skills necessary to navigate the real-world challenges that must be addressed by the next generation of engineers, scientists, mathematicians and leaders. We have an increasing number of our PLTW students applying their learning beyond the classroom by participating in both regional and national science, technology, engineering, robotics and mathematics competitions. We are honored to partner with such talented students and look forward to the continued achievement of our PLTW students as they pursue future degrees and careers in STEM fields.” - Reuben Jones, Principal, Diamond Bar High School
The PLTW Distinguished School recognition honors schools committed to increasing student access, engagement, and achievement in their PLTW programs.
