TY WATKINS Named 2020 WVUSD Teacher of the Year!!
Featured
Congratulations to DBHS teacher TY WATKINS for being chosen as Walnut Valley Unified School District's 2019-20 Teacher of the Year out of nearly 700 instructors.
Tuesday, June 16, WVUSD School Board President Larry Redinger, Superintendent Robert Taylor, Principal Reuben Jones and other district and school staff surprised Ty at his home letting him know the good news!
In his 16 years as a Brahma, Ty has initiated our new AP Human Geography class, coached multiple sports here at DBHS including football, basketball, golf, and softball. This year, he unselfishly joined the Pathways Communications Academy team and took on a class he had never taught: Leadership. Since being involved in PCA Leadership, he arranged the behind-the-scenes tour at Knott’s “SCARY” Farm, created that amazing Haunted House in the 500 building and has brought numerous guest speakers (including accomplished Brahma alumni) for the seniors to hear. Ty continues to work as an outstanding AP teacher, providing his students with multiple after school study sessions, where he comes in after softball practice and stays for a couple hours late at night, in preparation for the AP exams. He is always willing to go above and beyond in supporting DBHS.
